Producing fuel from woody biomass is a multi-step process.  Available woody material must be identified, harvested or collected, sometimes processed before shipping, and transported to a refinery where it can be converted to fuel. All of these steps combined, along with the people and organizations involved in executing them, make up a supply chain.
